Access – north of the town of Naughton west of Sudbury, off of Hwy 55, take St. Louis St. then left on Dennis Ave to the end.

The Walden trail system (recently changed from Naughton)  just west of Sudbury, is the most established set of ski loops in the area.

A well-used set of Nordic trails with plenty of variety and many separate snowshoe tracks too.

The area is scenic and has a few lookouts on the back side of the hill loops.

Beautiful white birch trees are everywhere with rock outcrops on the top of the hill offering a view, if you can hike to them (when the snow is not too deep).

The paths are wide and corners gradual for beginners and skate skiers.

This trail system has two distinct sections, the easy flat loops at the base of the hill beyond the club house and then the hilly loops on the north mound.

There is an even split for all skill levels for Nordic skiers to find plenty of enjoyment for a day’s outing. Night skiing is offered till 9pm weeknights on 3 km of the easy trails.

There are many snowshoeing trails with quite a few kilometers – 10 kms.

Likely too much to do in one visit. I would suggest the hill trails for more of a challenge and the nice views.

Like all the other clubs in Greater Sudbury Walden is worth a visit. They have an extensive school program and a racing team. It gets heavy use due to these facts. A nice variety of flat and hilly trails there is something for everyone. Oakleaf litter on the trails can be a problem during prolonged periods of low snow and windy conditions. Fortunately, most winters provide conditions where the leaf problem is infrequent. A large chalet with great rental equipment available and snacks is a bonus. A good solid place to ski.

Excellent skiing at this popular Sudbury ski spot. Plenty of good trail for everyone. Snowshoeing rocks too.
